“THIS IS WAR. A war to become a better, healthier and happier person.” Agent Ara

As we approach the end of 2023, we are thrilled to commemorate some remarkable achievements by our clients during this year. This week, we invite you to join us in an interview with Agent Ara and delve into the victories he has achieved along his fitness journey.

What motivated you to embark on this fitness journey? Why now?

Following an annual medical check-up, it became evident that, for the sake of my well-being and that of my family, I needed to focus and prioritize my health. Although I’ve been active all my life, I lacked consistency and a fitness goal. All I knew is that I was uncomfortable in my own skin and it was impacting all aspects of my life. This realization led me to make a commitment to start personal training with Vaz.

What specific fitness goals did you set for yourself in 2023?

During my initial consultation, Vaz took body composition assessments and set clear fitness goals for the months to come. My primary goal was to get under 300lbs. Having experienced this weight milestone before, I was familiar with the positive impact it had on my energy, confidence, and overall wellbeing.

What obstacles or challenges did you encounter? And how did you overcome them?

The first few weeks were challenging. There were many moments of doubt. Is the struggle worth it? Will I harvest the results? At those times, a decision had to be made: turn this feeling into motivation or succumb to discouragement.  I chose to view it as a challenge and embrace it.  It is incredibly helpful to have a support system. Having Vaz as someone to keep me accountable was immensely helpful. I knew every Monday morning I had a body composition test- no hiding the truth. This encouraged honesty with myself and a commitment to improvement.

Can you shed some light on your training routine?

My training regimen consists of strength training with Vaz every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday without fail. Additionally, I dedicate a minimum of one hour daily to riding my indoor bike. On gym days, I often follow up with a cardio session on the bike. I've developed a newfound appreciation for cycling and have expanded to outdoor rides on my mountain and road bikes. Finding opportunities to keep moving is key. For example, when I take my kids to basketball practice I walk around the court during the entire practice. This allows me to get my steps in. My Apple Watch is my accountability buddy!

Did you have to make significant changes to your nutrition?

Realistically, I still enjoy the foods I like in moderation. I'm more conscious of the caloric content and balance my intake with daily expenditure.

Have you noticed any positive mental and emotional changes?

My life has undergone a complete transformation—I feel like a brand new person. Weight loss and the knowledge that I’m making forward progress has brought immense positivity. The mental toll of being overweight and unhappy has lifted, resulting in reduced stress and an elevated mood. Feeling good translates into doing good.

What are your fitness goals for 2024?

In 2023 I have lost 60lbs.

I plan to continue working towards reducing my weight under 300lbs. Also I would love to accompany Vaz on his long bike rides.

What advice would you give to someone just starting their fitness journey? Or wanting to get back on track?

  • 100% commitment

  • Consistency consistency consistency

  • Prioritize fitness above daily tasks

  • Setbacks are inevitable, push through them. THIS IS WAR. A war to become a better, healthier and happier person. Remember, feeling good and making progress is priceless.
